Chinese brush painting (Sumi-e), calligraphy is a magnificent experience that can be learned under the guidance of Quanzhou (Jack) Zhao. Immerse yourself in the beautiful oriental art of literati painting. Study with professional artist Zhao as your guide to gain hands-on skills, a new perspective of creativity. Chinese calligraphy is a method to cultivate one’s heart and attitude, a practice to express the sense of wonder, a way to transmit one’s QI (life energy, inner mind ) into the paper through brush and ink. Think of this purely visual language as abstract painting, you can make your own beautiful artwork and mindfulness from mastering the strokes.

Workshops will be held on weekends (morning class 9:30 am to 11:00 am, afternoon class 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm, Saturday, and Sunday). Private lessons are available.

Class/Workshop Fees, $80/class per student, typically one and a half hours long. ( 10% discount will be applied if ten class/workshop fee is paid; another 20% discount will be applied if the numbers of the students are 5 and more in one class.) The class schedule is flexible and can be rescheduled after discussion with the studio. The fees for the unused classes are refundable.
