Chinese Landscape Painting (Sumi-e) Class
Sumi-e and Chinese brush painting are appealing because of their simplicity, harmony, and meditative nature. They not only capture the beauty of nature but also embody the traditional philosophy and cultural essence of "syncretism between heaven and humanity."
Chinese landscape painting is a brilliant gem in the treasure trove of Eastern culture. What makes Chinese painting most renowned is its ink-and-brush technique. By skillfully combining water and ink and using calligraphic dots and lines as its primary artistic language, it presents rich layers and profound artistic expressions. This technique creates unique visual effects through variations of light, dense, dry, and wet ink. With practice and patience, you will come to experience the joy and "flow state" that arises as brushstrokes flow quietly across rice paper. Duration: 10 sessions (over 10 weeks)
Cost: $20 registration
$50 Sumi-e art supplies (brushes, ink, rice paper, etc.) and shipping
to the registered address.

The studio's refund policy states that the $25 registration fee and art supplies fee are non-refundable. A 90% unused tuition credit can be refunded if you withdraw from the class, provided that you send an email notification to zhaoartstudio@gmail.com at least three
days before the class begins.
Previous experience is not required. All materials, such as brushes, paper, ink, etc.,
are provided and shipped to you for class use. You are also welcome to use your
own art supplies.
